Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso has confirmed that goalkeeper Robert Sanchez sustained an injury ahead of the Blues’ pre-season friendlies.
Alonso disclosed this to reporters at his post-match interview after Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Robert Sanchez was a conspicuous absentee as Alonso’s side tackled Tottenham in Sydney’s Accor Stadium.
Providing an update on his goalkeepers, Alonso said Mike Penders has joined the squad in Hong Kong, while Robert has a minor injury.
According to Alonso “We need to go assessing almost day by day, but there was no point in taking risks today.
Chelsea’s next friendly match is against Juventus on Wednesday.
