Deanna Wong Early Life and Volleyball Journey

Deanna Wong began her academic journey at Saint Theresa’s College of Cebu during her elementary years and later attended high school at the University of San Jose—Recoletos.

For her college education, she enrolled in AB Interdisciplinary Studies at the Ateneo de Manila University.

Volleyball Journey

Wong’s volleyball life began in the sixth grade during intramural games, encouraged by her best friend.

Her passion for the sport grew, leading her to compete in high school. She received an invitation for a three-week training session at both San Sebastian College-Recoletos and Ateneo de Manila University.

Collegiate Career at Ateneo

By March 2015, Wong had secured a spot on the Ateneo de Manila University Lady Blue Eagles, the women’s varsity volleyball team, coached by Anusorn “Tai” Bundit.

She debuted as a rookie in the UAAP Season 78 in 2016. Initially playing as a libero in Season 79 (2017), Wong transitioned to the setter position by Season 80 (2018), earning the prestigious Best Setter Award.

Under her contribution, the team won the championship in UAAP Season 81 (2019), after being runners-up in 2016 and 2017 and securing bronze in 2018.

Wong took a hiatus for UAAP Season 82 and planned to return for Season 83, which was ultimately canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Though eligible for Season 84, she chose to compete in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) instead.

Professional and National Career

In June 2020, Wong was signed by the Choco Mucho Flying Titans. She played in the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Open Conference with the Ateneo-Motolite partnership, reaching the finals before being defeated by the Creamline Cool Smashers. Wong also competed in the 2021 Season 4 Open Conference with the Choco Mucho Flying Titans, a team under Republic Biscuit Corporation.

On the international front, Wong was a part of the Philippine women’s national team, which participated as the Choco Mucho club side in the 2021 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship. She was also slated to compete in the 2021 SEA Games in Quang Ninh, Vietnam.
