As the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) continues to gain popularity, Volleyball World has announced the commencement of the bidding process for cities eager to host the prestigious tournament from 2025 to 2027.
With a deadline set for April 19, 2024, interested parties are encouraged to submit their bids, marking a significant opportunity for national federations, cities, governments, and other stakeholders to drive growth, innovation, and investment in volleyball.

Rapid Growth and Expansion: Over the past year, the VNL has witnessed remarkable growth, with a surge in both spectators and sponsorship value. The league experienced a nearly 20% increase in attendance, coupled with a notable 27% rise in sponsorship value. Furthermore, the cumulative global audience has expanded by an impressive 48%, affirming the tournament’s status as one of the most esteemed events in the volleyball calendar.

Format Evolution: In tandem with its burgeoning popularity, the VNL is set to undergo strategic enhancements in its format. Plans include expanding the participating teams from 16 to 18 and increasing the number of group venues from two to three per week. These modifications aim to maximize the commercial and local impact of host cities while fostering closer engagement between fans and athletes.

Global Reach: The VNL’s global footprint has steadily expanded, encompassing all continents over the past five years. Newly integrated cities and a surge in talent have heightened the competition’s allure, paving the way for the league to explore emerging markets worldwide.
Exciting Finals Format: The pinnacle of the VNL season, the Finals, will adopt an electrifying knockout format. Eight teams, comprising the host nation and the top seven VNL contenders per gender, will vie for victory in an exhilarating showdown spanning eight matches.
Volleyball Nations League Call for Bids
Call for Bids: Interested stakeholders, including national associations, cities, governments, and promoters, are urged to express their interest by April 19, 2024. Following the initial expression, bids must be submitted via email by April 26, 2024. Individual negotiations will ensue until May 10, 2024, with the selection of host cities slated for announcement in August 2024.
